🍁How would you build a career as a lawyer in India, when “Word of Mouth” publicity and “Merits” have taken a back seat?
In 35 years of law practice in India, I have seen sea changes.
There was a time when it was said that “A lawyer should work like a horse and live like a hermit”… In those days, lawyers were supposed to give full time to study of briefs and to development of law. Lawyers used to compare judgements of different High Courts and better principles of laws were evolved.
Now, the law , that is the case law, changes every three months. The different views of different High Courts have little importance. The judges focus more on facts of cases. The laws are interpreted in light of each case. So different cases, different interpretations.
The cases takes years to go on. Some time a case started by one generation ends in another generation.
So the concept of merit of a lawyer, his hard work and “Word of Mouth” publicity have become outdated concepts.
Now, “Just Dial A Lawyer” services have come up on many web portal.
This, and many other things, have changed the course a profession which was once considered a Noble Profession.
How do you see the future of legal profession in India?🍁
