Perhaps, there are two self-improvement methods prescribed by Gandhiji

Standard

First, deprive your body from food for sone hours, if you want to improve but you are not able to implement your resolution.

Second, observe silence for certain hours.

It causes pain in body when it is deprived of dearest food for certain hours or certain day. Consequently resolutions get implemented.

Secondly, when you observe silence for some hours, you have to curb, your ‘urges to speak’.

This control begins to tame unexpected and sudden urges of mind. You exercise control over your mind when you decide to observe silence for some hours.
